  • This program offers students the chance to study Culinary Arts at the Culinary Institute of Canada (CIC), widely regarded as Canada’s premier culinary school.
  • In this first-class industry-based training program, students from around the world learn their craft using fresh local ingredients from the Island’s farms and fisheries. Students sharpen their skills daily with rotations in the on-site restaurant/Marché for breakfast, lunch, and fine dining.
  • Students complete a 600-hour paid internship, giving them the opportunity to showcase their skills to employers and gain a greater perspective on where the career can take them.
  • Students’ culinary skills are complemented by business training to prepare students for the full scope of restaurant operations.

Results

  • Graduates of the Culinary Arts program at Holland College are some of the most highly regarded chefs in the world. With the Red Seal stamp applied to the program, graduates are only two years away from becoming a Red Seal cook when they walk across the stage!
  • Employers have given rave reviews to the Culinary Institute of Canada and how it prepares its chef with industry-based training, knowing once a student has graduated he/she is ready to be held accountable for the food he/she is creating for customers.
  • The Culinary Arts program prides itself in that its students prepare food for up to 400 staff, students, and visitors each day, totaling close to 240,000 meals each year. It is this type of experiential learning alongside top notch instructors that continue to provide world-class results for the program and its graduates.
  • With an over 90 percent employment rate upon graduation, the industry-based training program illustrates its own path of success. The graduates of this program have proven to be battle tested and more than capable of perfecting the task at hand, whether in be in a restaurant, hotel, cruise ship, or the many other types of employment that Holland College’s Culinary Arts program graduates seek out.
  • Culinary Arts students have evidence of their world-class results, winning two gold medals at the 2016 IKA Culinary Olympics in Erfurt, Germany, with a fourth overall finish.
